About Us
Aigrette is a small kennel overlooking the Olympic Mountains and the Hood Canal in Washington. Our small acreage, covered with huckleberry, salal and Douglas fir, gives the dogs lots of opportunities for adventure and helps keep them conditioned for showing, racing and coursing. We are committed to raising the healthiest possible dogs, giving them a good environment for growth and helping them realize their potential. Most of all they are well-loved. All of our dogs are house dogs, or, more precisely, couch and bed dogs.
Silken Windhounds are a wonderful choice for sighthound lovers looking for a smaller, coated sighthound. They are exuberant, intelligent, active and happy. As a breed, they are remarkably healthy and long-lived. Silkens participate in conformation shows through the International Silken Windhound Society, Rarities, National Canine Association and International All Breed Canine Association; In sprint racing and oval track racing through our own parent club's racing programs with the cooperation of a growing number of Large Gazehound Racing Association and National Oval Track Racing clubs; and in lure coursing with the American Sighthound Field Association clubs. Silken Windhounds were granted limited status with ASFA in December 2009. Silkens and their owners also engage in rally, agility, therapy dog training and obedience.
Silken Windhounds can be found in Europe, Scandinavia, Japan, New Zealand, Canada and England as well as in the United States, their country of origin. The personality, health, moderate size and beauty of this breed have won them many admirers.
